PETA For all those who have a soft spot in their heart for animals and believe they should be treated with dignity and compassion, consider giving a different kind of gift this year; a toy to a outdoor dog or some warmth on a cold night, in the name of one of your loved ones. For some " People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals", aka PETA is controversial, but no other animal rights organization that I'm aware of has passionately and tirelessly fought and raised awareness to the injustice that animals receive. In my experience it takes great passion to make great change. Read below and follow the link to learn more about the intentions of this 3 million member organization. Some of their" frequently asked question" answers, accomplishments and projects may surprise you. One thing is certain a gift of love to an animal is a worthy endeavor; animals rely on us to set the example of what it is to be kind and compassionate. Please join me in donating a minimum of $5-$10.00, in addition to whatever you are gifting someone, and include a simple gift of comfort to an animal this holiday. Please also read below to consider donating time with a past A Year of Gifting Friend-Kindness Ranch- what an amazing opportunity to experience giving in action! PETA-OUR MISSION STATEMENT People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other "pests" as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns. Even with a doghouse outdoor dogs suffer through the freezing cold each winter. But a layer of straw can provide insulation and warmth.

However, some great news has come our way and we want to share it with you right away, and see if you might be able to help. Kindness Ranch is getting sixteen dogs in mid-November! This is fantastic news for 16 of the countless animals used in research across the country. Getting these pups settled in to their new accommodations, though, will take a lot of work. Most of them will be unfamiliar with a loving environment, taking walks outdoors, socializing with other dogs etc, and we will desperately need help doing all of these things. We need many volunteers to come to the ranch and spend time with all of our new friends. Your time commitment at the ranch would be only four hours a day, or more if you want. This would be a wonderful opportunity for a dog and animal lover to come and spend time in a remote and very beautiful location, three hours north of Denver in the southeast part of Wyoming. (See www.KindnessRanch.org for much more information about the sanctuary.) We have wonderful accommodations for volunteers, and you will be welcome to come for a few days, a few weeks, or even a few months. Transportation funds are available. If you're interested, please contact Executive Director Mike Stabler, [email protected], 307-331-4569 as soon as you can. We're very excited to meet these wonderful dogs, and would love to have you help us transition them in to their new, loving homes. Thanks very much, David Hatch Board Member, Kindness Ranch Vegetarian Way, 1967.

FEEDING AMERICA
During this time of year as the Fall harvest begins and the season of eating in abundance is around the corner, I am reminded of those here in America who go to bed with an empty stomach. Please join me as we give a minimum of $3-10.00 to support organizations who feed the people in our communities who need it most.Mission and Values Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Our mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. Feeding America has adopted the following Statement of Values, which guides all of our actions and planning. Programs & ServicesThrough the assistance of local and national food assistance programs, Feeding America is able to provide nutritious, fresh foods to Americans struggling with hunger; safe and nurturing places for children to have a meal; emergency assistance for disaster victims; as well as a chance at self-sufficiency for adults trying to break the cycle of poverty and hunger. Child HungerResearch has shown that food insecurity and hunger are serious threats to children’s health, growth and development. The nation’s economic growth depends on the well-being of our children. As such, the existence of childhood hunger in the United States threatens future American prosperity. I was introduced to a wonderful place a decade ago by my dear friend, Barbara, she had a sweet spot in her heart for this organization and she was enthusiastic and committed to letting people know how important she thought this community drop-in center is. I can still see her smile, her petite frame with a whimsical hat on her head piling all kinds of donations into her Hummer and heading off to Denver to contribute what she collected. My friend has since made her transition and it's in her memory that this week we pay honor to her beloved charity. Please join me this week and donate a minimum of $3-$10.00 to support women and children who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. Donate money, time or as my friend so often gathered, diapers for the babies. This holiday I'm grateful that I crossed paths with a loving person like Barbara, she radiated fun, compassion and commitment to the people and the community she lived in. She was an angel while she was here and I know she continues her good work in the next dimension. About Us The Gathering Place is Denver’s only daytime drop-in center for women and children who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. We provide programming and services to an average of 260 women and children every day. Our Mission The Gathering Place exists to support women and their children experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing a safe daytime refuge and resources for self-sufficiency. Our Philosophy We believe that women, their children, and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty deserve a safe and caring place to re-establish their lives. We also believe that everyone, regardless of circumstances, is worthy of respect and is a valuable human being just as they are... http://www.tgpdenver.org/index To Donate tgpdenver.org I am only one, but I am one.
