A MINUTE FOR PEACE
In a minute the power of love can transform the world, expand the mind and heal a nation. A minute is enough time to take a stand; to create peace in response to war; to take the lead; and turn tragedy in 1963 into possibility. In sixty seconds a man with a vision can decide that a meal for someone seeking refuge will not only nourish his body, but feed his soul and the souls of generations to come... BUY BOOK NOW |
This poem was written for John Mc Connell the original founder of Earth Day, A Minute for Peace, and Star of Hope. I was honored to read and present this poem to him in his home when he was 96 years old. John was an author, a supporter and participant in several of Imagine Peace Foundations events . I was humbled and surprised that his wife, Anna Mc Connell, sent this poem with his important documents to be housed at Swarthmore University in their Peace Studies Department. John was an amazing visionary and an optimist who wore the kind of smile that touched hearts and charmed such people as Margaret Mead and John F. Kennedy whose names were on the documents he prepared for his proclamation. www.en.wikipedia.org/John_McConnell_(peace_activist)

SAVED A SPIDER TODAY ( Poem by Aleta Antoinette )
Saved a spider today. Got lost along the way in my shower at play, long legs, dancing a clumsy ballet. Saved a spider today. Hip, hip, hooray. He’ll live to weave a web of dismay for a poor soul of a fly who won’t get away. Saved a spider today. What a great start to my day. Something to delight in, make me feel okay. A simple cause, like rescuing a stray. Saved a spider today. Put him in a cup, down the stairway, through the archway, past the fairway, under a flower display, away from the hungry Blue Jay. Saved a spider today. Hope someone saves me someday when I lose my way; gently, so I don’t become a victim of prey. Saved a spider today. For now he won’t be anyone’s snack at a buffet. He proudly rests on a lovely bouquet. Dear spider, my gift to you. Happy rebirth day! |
The Journey BeginsThere is a place beyond this space
of Earth that calls to me. I am beckoned to find my voice and imagination, to give them wings to fly beyond the worldly thoughts of practicality and reason, to a place where peace is possible – one breath, one thought transformed, one vision at a time. Join hands with me as we reach beyond the heavens and the stars to remember how special we are; and in that reaching, create a place that reflects joy, appreciation and acceptance in the lives of those that are touched. Sweet inspiration, take hold and wrap us in your embrace as we embark on this wonderful journey of love. |
The GiftI’ve spent this past year saying farewell to me.
Dying the death one must die in order to truly live. Embracing the dark side of the soul so that my spirit could be freed. You were there while I sat on the fence. The fence I created with my uncertainty and fear, You patiently helped me believe in the light again. your light sparkling presence has taken my breath away, transformed me. The path that appeared to be filled with broken glass, pieces from my shattered soul, I now recognize them as shining stars…(Read more) |
